7/25 - 7/26 Hoover Dam/Las Vegas

After spending most of this trip visiting beautiful places from nature, I decided to spend a few days seeing a couple marvels that man has built... Las Vegas and Hoover Dam.

Las Vegas is something else! Despite it being perhaps the most gaudy place on Earth, it really is quite beautiful. Between the lights and the air conditioning, I would love to know the average daily electric bill of one of these casinos.

Hoover Dam is huge... and they've made some changes since the last time I've been there. They now do quick car inspections for every car that crosses the dam, which causes major traffic delays. The other new thing... it looks like they almost done completing a huge bridge that runs parallel with the dam and will eliminate all that congestion.

Looking at that new bridge from the Dam.

The other side of the Dam. The water level was very low.

Walking across the Dam.

This was the view from my hotel room at Bally's. If I was a little higher and to the right, I could have seen the Bellagio Fountains from my window.

I then took a side trip all the way to Paris.

Then, I went to Venice.

The Stratosphere in the distance.

The view from atop the Stratosphere.

Fremont Street. Supposedly, the ceiling on the street is the largest video screen in the world.
